Effect of Field Stimulation of Isolated Intestinal Strips of Newborn Rabbits
Abstract
1. Pharmacological analysis of the effects of field stimulation of isolated intestinal strips of 1 to 10 days old newborn rabbits has been made.
2. In most preparations field stimulation produced contractile responses followed by inhibitory ones.
3. Chlorisondmaine, guanethidine, cocaine and physostigmine did not affect the responses to field stimulation.
4. Tetrodotoxin produced reversible inhibition of the effects of field stimulation,
5. Cocaine did not affect the responses of isolated intestinal strips of newborn rabbit to norepinephrine and tyramine.
6. It is inferred that the effects of field stimulation are not related with the adrenergic and cholinergic nerve.
